- Key Responsibilities
- Provide competent health and safety advice to managers, employees, elected members, and contractors.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of corporate health and safety policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated regulations.
- Undertake workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments across council services and sites.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences, recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain and monitor corporate health and safety management systems and performance indicators.
- Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions.
- Support managers in undertaking and reviewing risk assessments and safe working procedures.
- Advise on contractor management, construction projects, CDM compliance, and procurement-related health and safety matters.
- Prepare reports, statistics, and performance updates for senior management and corporate governance boards.
- Assist with emergency planning, business continuity, and health and safety compliance projects.
- Promote continuous improvement and a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
